End of week 5

30 10 2008

Not a lot to report for this week. No change in aligner normally means it is the same story as before. The aligner is not embedded well, no pain at all and it’s got to the easy part where I just wait for the next one. Can hardly notice it now. So much so that I had forgotten to put it back in after eating last night because I am used to not noticing if it is in or not.

I have noticed the gaps on the side of my teeth have closed up, but the front gap is still there, I will post pictures in a few weeks when my next visit to the Orthodontist is.

I’m not experiencing any of the tooth pain I had a couple of weeks ago either. It seems to have gone away for good, but if the cavity is still there I don’t know why I cannot feel it. I will bring it up again at my next visit.

Well that’s about all there is to report on for now. Thanks for reading

~Adam

Hey thanks for stopping by Moon, how are you finding the treatment so far?

Hey Adam!

How are you?
I have been a little upset, because I found out I would need attachments on my front upper two teeth. This makes sense, because those are the two teeth I don’t like, but therefore I don’t want to draw attn. to them. I considered stopping my treatment when I found out I would need them starting my 3rd aligners (I have 12 upper, 9 lower so 6 months total treatment time)… but realized I was being overdramatic haha. Still not looking forward to getting them on the 19th of November, but hopefully they won’t be as awful as some of the images of attachements I’m googling. Do you have any experience with the attachments yet? If not, luck you!! I would love to not need them.

Hey, try not to worry about them. I have 7 attachments, 3 upper and 4 lower. They’re all on the side teeth though so you cannot see them really when you look at my teeth.

I have some pictures from previous posts, I think you can see them there.

When you get your blog started let me know the link and I will link to it from mine at the top. I also have some other links for other blogs too :-)

Hey Adam,

I came across your blog from doing some research. I want to get braces SO bad but I just can’t afford it right now. Hopefully I’ll get to it when I’m done with school and start having some kind of income. From looking at your pictures, I noticed how worse my teeth are compared to yours. I don’t understand how it was possible for my teeth to get crowded that bad. I have a feeling they might even have to pull out one or two to free up room when I do get the braces. It’s definitely scary. On top of that, I still have to remove all 4 of my wisdom teeth. GOSH. talk about teeth problems. As a child, I was never reinforced on keeping my teeth clean and when I should have had braces then, I didn’t. Now, I have all kinds of problems that I need to take care of, which is not so exciting. Anyways, I wish you all the best and Im gonna bookmark your blog and come visit from time to time. Thanks for writing about your process. It def helps and it’s a good way to document this major event in your life! :)

Thanks for the positive feedback… haha. How noticeable do you think the attachments will be on the front teeth? Also, I was looking at your pictures, and your teeth look drastically better! I feel like they are about 8 shades whiter too.

Hi, found your blog while doing some research about Invisalign. I got mine last November and will be done December 15th of this year! It’s been a longg year. I have those attachments on the top – my 6 front teeth! Noone really says anything about them – except other people who have or had invisalign. Just think – a small tooth colored attachment or a big bulky metal bracket?! GOODLUCK! You will be done before you know it

Kayiu – If you’re having your wisdom teeth removed this might free up the required space. If you think about it these teeth are pretty big so you may be okay after having that done. Glad I can help out. If you need more information then just post more questions

Moon – I think the attachments will be more noticeable to you than anyone else because you’re conscious of them being there. But I have not see any pictures of people with attachments in the front, so cannot say for sure what they’ll look like. I have not had any whitening done, but did change my toothpaste when I started treatment, and am cleaning all the time now so maybe this is why? Also the first set of pictures were taken in poor light so the white balance on them is off, causing them to look worse than they are, if that is possible.

STC – Thanks for the positive message! Do you have any before and after pictures? Did you have any other work done, and do you need a refinement period after your brace comes off or are they fine as they are now?

No, not at this time at least (b/a pics). I did have the tooth shaving done, and I had a refinement mid-course. Took a little while longer, but it’s okay. I will find out in 4 weeks if I’m done for good!
