….I’ve not completed.
I knew for a while that I didn’t think the final results would be the end of my Invisalign journey. I could tell I’d still need a certain about of work done to my teeth after I’d finished the prescribed course. Well today I visited my Orthodontist and he confirmed I was eligable for the refinements and we began the process.
We discussed what I wasn’t happy with, and specifically a couple of the upper teeth had not rotated correctly, so we’re going to correct that, then cap/level out the bottom of my teeth as a few chips in them give them an uneven look to them.
I will start with showing you the before and after Invisalign photo’s here; then discuss what I had to go through to get the refinements.

As you can see I’ve come a long way from the original look of the teeth, and all this achieved in just under 9 months. I am very pleased with them, and constantly smiling, however I don’t think the pictures do them justice. However they do a good job of highlighting the inperfections, which I would love to get corrected. These being the uneven tip teeth and the various chips in my teeth.
So as you might be able to tell, I’ve had the attachments/buttons removed from my teeth, this was a little painful actually, I think the constant suction drilling of the attachements to remove were the cause of this.
So moving on, in two weeks I should have my new trays, I’m unsure how many I will need thus far, but will come back with an update. I’m only amending the top, and going to sort the bottom with a little more cosmetic dentistry.
As always if anyone has any questions, please do leave me a message and I will do my best to get back to you.
Thanks for reading.

Hi Adam,
Congratulations! Your teeth look amazing! You mentioned you’re going to amend the bottom with a little more cosmetic dentistry. Is that what you mean by cap or levelling out? I’m asking because I’m wondering about the possibility of cosmetic work after my treatment. I’ve had quite a bit of IPR done on my front top teeth and still worried about the gaps closing (i’m on tray 7 of 15U and 14L so still early to tell!). Your teeth look quite good in the photos.
Thanks for posting. Your blog has been very helpful!

Hello Terrie,
Yes I’m going to be having the bottom of the teeth levelled and possibly capped, it depends on how they’re looking after the refinements – but I will definitely need a cap on the bottom teeth.
As for the IPR gaps, my orthodontist did these .1mm at a time as not to look too big when changing through the trays, did yours do it all at once? I have to say my gaps closed real quick, so sure you’ll notice this over the next few trays
Adam
Yes, my ortho did them all at once, as per the clincheck. I had them done at the beginning of Tray 2 and I’m on Tray 7 and they’re still there. From the clincheck, it looks like it will be around Tray 10 before they start to close. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
I’m really amazed at how nice your two front teeth look. Mine are quite crooked too but in the opposite direction. Yours were inverted inwards whereas mine are pointed outwards.
Terrie
Maybe that’s why it doesn’t look too good right now – I’ve heard a lot of orthodontists do this. As I said mine did it .1mm at a time as not to notice so much, so trust me the gap will close up over time
Adam
Hi Adam, looking good. Can I ask, is your ortho going to do reshaping on your teeth? I have seen this elsewhere and it makes a huge difference. I am going to need it I fear and I wondered whether your ortho had mentioned it?
Yes my ortho is going to be reshaping my teeth. I said to him that I was concerned with the way the teeth had moved, that they’re now uneven along the bottom, and he mentioned it was because of the chips in the teeth, but we can fix this with reshaping them when I’m happy with the final straightening. I will make sure I post up more information when I have it and also pictures when finished

Adam,
I am trying to figure out if invisalign is for me and if the cost is truly not bad. I do not have severe problem with the alignment of my teeth but my teeth are definitely not straight. None of my teeth are turned inward or outward but a few are over lapping and there is a lot of crowding. So I was kind of wondering what the cost of your invisalign was? And also, my two front bottom teeth are full caps because both of my teeth were broken years ago. I thought possibly you would know if this messes up the process of invisalign? Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I have been unable to find anything about the cost or caps.
Your teeth look awesome by the way!

Jennifer,
Thank you for stopping by and thank you for your kind comments.
My Invisalign was £3500 of which I paid £1,100 up front and the other £2,400 over 12 months at £200 a month, which made it a lot more affordable.
As for your caps, I’m not sure how you could get around them using Invisalign, I’m guessing that you just wouldn’t need to move those teeth so they should be unaffected. My advise to you would be to look for someone who offers a free consultation in your area (as I did) and then go from there – they will say if you can have Invisalign and how much it would cost you.
Good luck
Adam
Lol, the before and after pics were really convincing. My teeth were just released from the metal cage they were trapped in for the past four years. Can you imagine that? Four years wearing all that metal. I do wish I had worn invisalign instead of traditional braces. Congrats!
