Well, It’s been a loooong journey! Since I started this blog, I’ve been travelling around the world with Invisalign, I’ve played sports with invisalign, I’ve had an interview with Invisalign and started a new job. I’ve gone through a lot of experiences since I started and I have to say it’s been pretty easy with all things considered.
Many people feel the pain at the beginning when starting Invisalign to be too much. It was painful at first, but after a while you get used to it, and towards the end you’re feeling satisfied that you’re hurting as you know your teeth are moving into their final positions and you cannot wait to finish.
I’m having whitening done soon, so these before and after photo’s are without whitening. As you can tell, they’re not Hollywood piano teeth, and they’re not perfect, but for me, from what I went from, and what I have now, I couldn’t be happier! I had the bottom of the top teeth shaved ever so slightly to remove the appearance of a chip in the tooth, and I think they’ve turned out great. I love how they’ve turned out, and I’m so confident and always smiling in pictures now. In a recent job interview I was smiling all the way through and it was commented that I was confident in front of the interviewers, which was down to Invisalign giving me the results I wanted and the confidence with it.
I will come back here to update every now and again if there are any updates or developments as I go along, but for now, I will leave you with my penultimate before and after photo’s. Please leave me a comment if you have any questions.

these are some really great results Adam, please continue to share your progress with us.
Thanks
thanks for sharing; I’m a 66 year old grandma who decided to do it. I got my first tray today and one of the little brackets would not stick to one of my teeth. The other four stuck.
The dentist did not put them on; in fact he had very little to do with the entire process; he used a trusted (I presume) assistant who seemed quite competent to me. However when this one bracket on a tooth would not take she proceeded anyway. I wonder if this in anyway detracts from the overall effectiveness of the particular tray and/or will resulting movement be out of alignment as a result. She had planned ‘to tell the dentist’ when he returned. I felt it should have been in the office while this was happening. In fact I had expected that it would be he putting them on.
Anyway, it feels ok tonight. I forgot to ask if I can continue using an electric toothbrush for my evening brush or would this kind of brushing be too hard on the brackets (E.g. knock them off). Do you happen to know. I treaded lightly this evening using a regular brush for the front of upper and lower teeth and the electric for the backs of the teeth. I flossed and used ‘Stimudents’ as I usually do.
Was the retainer included in your total price? I think I should have asked more questions, but if it works and lasts (with an included retainer) I will be a happy camper. However, the brochure she enclosed with the cases, indicated there is some kind of ‘retainer’ plan whereby you can a new retainer every 3 months. This concerned me. Is this a never ending money sucking process or what. Hoping for completion….
.ALSO after I paid the total fee, I was told only a six month supply of trays were made since they estimated it would only take that long. Based on the initial estimate of a year’s worth of trays and monitoring, was I due a proportional refund? Should I ask? All of these concerns I will probably have to ask my dentist about. Just wanted to know if you happened to know the answers (tonight). So I am grateful for your blog.
By the way while waiting the 30 days plus for the trays to arrive, I went back and forth in my mind re whether or not I was up to this change of habits. If nothing else, I hope I eat less and I will be extra attentive re cleaning my teeth at least 3 times a day….now that I have that ‘cavity’ heads up.
.
June, thank you for posting. Sorry for the delay in replying, I’ve been on holiday and just got back this morning.
The brackets are key to the movement of your teeth, however, it may be that according to your plan, the tooth the bracket was on is not due for movement yet, which is why they’re maybe not concerned, but really your dentist should be able to let you know this. When ever one of mine came off (happened twice to me) the orthodontist always told me to come straight in for repairs.
As for toothbrush it should be fine using electric, they’re pretty stuck on when you get them, so they shouldn’t come off really.
The total price included refinements and retainers, although the retainer is not great, it’s big and covers the gum which leaves an awful taste in my mouth in the mornings!
I don’t think you’ll get a refund, however, you should check if you’re on the Invisalign Express, as this is for 10 trays or lower and is considerably cheaper than the standard Invisalign which is for more complex cases.
If you have any more questions I’m happy to share my experiences.

Hey Adam,
I just wanted to reach out and say you have a great blog! I recently launched my own blog about invisalign since when I was searching for a good informative site, the only sites coming up were from orthodontists themselves. A bit biased for me! So I built this site: http://invisalignfacts.com and am trying to spread the word about it. I was wondering if you could be kind enough to help me and place a link somewhere on your site? I would be so grateful! Please let me know what I can do to make this happen. And thanks for getting great info out there! If you’d ever want to post a review on my site or share your info with others, that would be so helpful!
Hope you have a great weekend,
Irina
Thanks Irina. I will add your site to my blog roll so it should appear there shortly.
Regards,
Adam
Hi Adam
Thanks for your blog and photos. Great reading!
I’ve just started my invisalign treatment and am on tray 4 of 20.
I have a few question regarding socialising and drinking. I have been taking out my trays everytime I drink or eat anything other than water, but I’m starting to find it a little tiresome on nights out with my friends.
I want to drink at pubs with them, but don’t want to miss hours of invisalign treatment if I’m out for a whole night. What did you do when you were out with friends or travelling?
Also, I’m quite concerned about cavities with invisalign. I’ve been seeing a periodontist during my treatment for other reasons and so have asked him to keep a special close eye on cavities. I get a full professional clean every 8 weeks, so hopefully I will be ok on the cavity front. I guess time will tell.
Cheers
Lucy
Sorry for such a late reply. I will try answer your questions for you.
When I was out I always took the brace out to eat and drink. I never kept it in because this is how you trap food in your teeth which can cause cavities etc. They were out longer than the recommended 2 hours a day, but I wasn’t out every night socialising, so I didn’t see it as a big problem for me.
Keep an eye on the cavities and it’s good to get the cleaned when you can. Remember to floss and rinse after every meal. I hope you have more luck than me.
Adam
Hey Adam
Thanks for reply. I’m currently on tray 8 of 20 and am very happy with the results so far.
No cavities yet. I’ll continue to do as you suggested as well as have teeth cleaned often.
Do you have any retaining devices fitting now after treatment?
Cheers
Lucy

Saw the before & after results! Good grief – what a lot of difference! You must be chuffed to bits!
hello
how are you all
i just want to ask question invisalign
for your teeth
and when does the resluts shows on ur teeth
that they becuase perfect teeth
and other question can you put invisalign brace for seprted teeth
You can use Invisalign for gaps in the teeth. For me it took a couple of months before I noticed any real changes
how much is invisalign braces
It all depends on the length of treatment and your orthodontist. The prices range quite a bit from just over £1000 to well over £5000
Hi Adam, I am sooo happy to find your blog. I am 35yo have very similar problem to yours, and in few weeks I will have my first trays. I love your new smile and will be more than happy to achieve similar results.I was told it will take 12 to 14 months, seems long time but I am prepare to wait.
Excellent, I wish you every success
Adam
Wow, this is just unbelievable!!! What a great result!
Thanks. I’m really pleased with the results
Hi Adam!
Your photos are very helpful for getting an idea of the before and after! I have been trying to decide if I should go with Invisaligns or Damon Braces. I really wanna go with Invisaligns however I keep hearing that there is more of a chance my teeth may shift back if I go with them. Have u had an experience with shifting? how long did u have to wear them and how long has it been since u completed the process?
Hi Deanna, thank you for the message. I have noticed a very slight amount of shifting. And when I say slight, it’s like less than 1mm on just one tooth that seems to be the trouble maker. I had my invisalign for about 18 months I think and it’s been 13 months since I had them. I think with any orthodontic work, they’re only going to stay in place after treatment if you wear a retainer at night after. I have to wear one every night and I notice if I go a night without it, the teeth still now shiift a little during the night. All this is so small though that no-one but yourself will notice.
Adam
Hi Adam, you have had such amazing results, they look great! My teeth are somewhat similar to yours, so I would be really happy to have a similar outcome. I am 2/3 of the way through my treatment and have a blog too. http://invisalignmelbourne.blogspot.com/
I am a little worried about the movement post treatment, but after reading the above i will make sure to where the aligner each night to be safe.
Your teeth look great adam! It was soo worth it. I got a question for ya though, did your bite change at all? Just wondered. I’m going thru the process right now and feel like my bights changing. Did you ever feel like it was?
Thanks!
Thank you Justin!! I’m very please with the results. My bite did change because a lot of my teeth were moving and the shape of my top arch was adjusted.
Adam
I love your blog. Ilove my practice and all my patients. Your blog always encurages me to keep working hard! Thanks for your ideas and opinions. Keep up the good work, for me! I always look to your words for ideas for my blog. thanks!

(edit: I moved this comment to this post, as the old one was deleted)
Badhon says…”Invisalign is a good item. I have had Invisalign for several months now and I could not be happier with the result. Within the very little time which i have experienced Invisalign, I’ve been in a position to discover the change within the position associated with my personal the teeth.
